AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE CONCERNING SCHOOL CLOSING OR DELAYED OPENING, DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

Again this year, in addition to the possiblity of closing schools due to inclement weather, we may also use a delayed opening. In order to ensure greater safety, the opening of schools may be delayed by either one or two hours.

One-Stop Shopping for Newton Camps:  The Planning Out-of-School-Time (POST) database is a single, centralized place to get free online listings of over 160 summer day camp programs in Newton, serving kids agee 3-17.  This database is searchable by location, age of child, type of camp and specific camp activities.

Last night’s meeting was very sobering.  There are two main areas to report:  the FY11 budget and elementary space needs.
 
FY11 Budget:  The Superintendent outlined the need for a budget increase of approximately $7.6 million for FY11 as follows:
