OurNewton.org Outreach & Technology Paid Internship

OurNewton.org, a social networking website dedicated to building civic engagement in Newton, will offer a paid internship for someone to help develop web content and drive traffic to the site. The position involves 3-4 hours of work per week over the course of the 2009/10 school year. Work location is flexible and position can be used to fulfill college credit.

Clean Out Your Closets to Benefit The New Art Center

Eliminate clutter and help your community art center at the same time. New Art Center is soliciting donations of furniture, household items, appliances, adult and children's clothing, toys, videos, sports equipment, antiques, rugs, jewelry, art, and more for our giant indoor Rummage Sale, Sunday, November 1st., 9am-4pm, 61 Washington Park, Newtonville. Proceeds will support the New Art Center's art classes, exhibitions and community programs, and enable much-needed improvements to our building.

For you techies, you've already "been there, done that".  But the  rest of us are wondering what an RSS feed is and how to get hold of an RSS Reader and why it matters at all!

Most of you have signed up for the Newton North PTSO emails.  These emails let you know what's posted on the site.  If you are interested, you go to the web site for more details. However, the PTSO email can get lost in the barrage of emails that you receive on a daily basis.

Free Parenting Group - Parent Management Training

Join other parents of elementary-aged children and a professional facilitator to explore possible solutions to problem behavior using Parent Management Training (PMT), an evidence-based program for parents developed by Alan Kazdin, Ph.D., of Yale University's Parenting Center and Child Conduct Clinic. PMT has been consistently proven to decrease behavioral problems and increase positive behavior in children. It is highly effective in reducing tantrums, fighting, and disruptiveness.

The Boston Ability Center announces programs for children with special needs in a fun setting

The Boston Ability Center, located at 49 Walnut Park in Wellesley Hills, is a new pediatric therapy center with a mission to serve children with special needs and their families in a setting that is full of fun and adventure. The following programs are being offered.

Boston College WINTER Softball Clinics for Girls age 5-18

Pitching/Catching- January 15th 7-9pm. All Skills - January 16-17th  9-12pm. All sessions to be held in the "Bubble" at Alumni Stadium.
