Get Connected. Join the Mentor Connection!
Mentor Connection matches middle and high school students from the Newton community with adult volunteers to build meaningful, lasting relationships and promote active citizenship. Mentors help youth make healthy life decisions during their teenage years while supporting them on their journey to adulthood.
Could your teen benefit from a positive role model?
Mentors support young people in many ways. They help teens think about the world after high school, including higher education and the workforce. They assist with academics and help teens to explore their interests and their communities. They help teens to build self confidence and make healthy decisions. Our mentors have been thoroughly screened and trained and are ready to be matched with a teen in need of a little extra support.
Invest in our Future - Mentor a Newton Teen!
Mentors are thoughtfully paired with a young person as part of a year long mentoring program. They commit to spend at least 6 hours a month over the course of the program with their teen. Mentors will support their teen by listening, providing guidance and building trust and rapport. The mentor is not a social worker, a teacher or a parent, but rather a compassionate friend and role model. Mentors often report that they are amazed by the positive impact the relationship has on all aspects of their lives. They receive support, training and supervision from program staff.
