Newtonopoly sales will help fund new school store and increase entrepreneurial opportunities for students

Newton North business students, including members of the Future Business Leaders of America Club, are hard at work selling Newtonopoly, a fun, customized version of the famous board game featuring many businesses in and around Newton, including Cabot's Ice Cream & Restaurant, Legal Sea Foods, The Paint Bar, The Village Bank, and Wegmans. Money raised by sales of Newtonopoly will be used to build a new space for Newton North's school store (currently being run out of a closet) across from the cafeteria. With a new space, business teacher Robert Kane and his entrepreneurial students are planning to expand the number and variety of items sold in the store and the store hours. They also expect to increase online sales.

Over the past three years, students have been working on selling advertisements and designing the game layout. They have learned many valuable business skills in the areas of negotiating, contractual agreements, trademarks, ecommerce, and more. One student in particular helped raise over $6,000.
