Businesses and volunteers needed for Financial Reality Fair on May 19

Newton North business student Hayley Soehle is working with teacher Robert Kane and other students to plan the second annual Financial Reality Fair on May 19, from 8:50 to 11:15 a.m. The fair will run along the lines of a game of Life and will enable student participants to experience the responsibilities and budgeting decisions they will face when they begin living on their own. After getting a job and a salary, students will walk around the fair speaking with representatives from local businesses about things they need (like housing) and things they want (like clothing), and the costs and choices associated with each.

The fair planners would like to include more types of businesses. In particular, they would like representation in the following areas:

  • Health insurance
  • Nail salon
  • Hair salon
  • Clothing store
  • Realtor
  • Dog groomer/walker
  • Restaurant

If you own or work in a business in one of these areas and if you can participate the morning of May 19, please contact the student organizers here

Parent/guardian volunteers are needed to help run the fair. Please sign up here. Thank you for supporting this special event!
