Special ed PAC hosts talk on post-secondary transition on May 18, 7:30 p.m.

The Newton Parent Advisory Council for Special Education is hosting Jill Curry, NPS Transition Coordinator, on Thursday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 210 of the Education Center, 100 Walnut St, Newtonville.

Jill will present an overview of the transition planning process for students with disabilities. She will share general transition planning information, as well as strategies to support independence and student self-determination. Jill will discuss a range of community-based resources for students as they consider their post-secondary plans and she will talk about steps that students, staff, and families can to take to support a positive transition to adulthood.

The meeting agenda will include the election of a new Board for the 2017-2018 year. Networking and light refreshments begin at 7:15 p.m.; the meeting will start at 7:30 p.m.
