On Tuesday, December 5, from 2:00-5:00 p.m., we would like to invite parents/guardians to the Library Learning Commons (LLC) for our Parent Night Open House. Visit the LLC during your free block to learn more about what the library teachers do and what resources we have. Here are some highlights.
- Reading. We will demonstrate how to access our eMagazines (through Flipster) and the New York Times. These are resources for our community to use at school and home for pleasure reading and research.
- Research. We will offer information about our subscription databases, archive resources for primary sources, and other tools. We will also show you how we are involved in the research process from start to finish and how your students can receive individualized help for all of their research projects. For those of you with juniors, we will offer a junior thesis step-by-step plan.
- Programs. We will share our plan for events and guest speakers this year. This is where we really need parent help! We are looking for experts and guests from our community who are willing share what they do for work. If you are interested in speaking or if you know of someone who you may be able to offer his/her expertise, we would love to hear from you.
You will leave with a better understanding of what we teach and what tools offer. Please follow us on Twitter (@nnhslibrary) to keep up with events and offerings in the LLC!
We look forward to meeting you on December 5th between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m.
Ms. Dalbec, Ms. Italiano, and Ms. Kennedy
