Volunteers needed to plan Just Think expo; come to a planning meeting on December 14, 6:30 p.m.

Support families in helping their teens make good decisions by helping PLAN the Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choices expo! All are welcome to attend a planning meeting on Thursday, December 14, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Newton North. Please contact co-presidents@northptso.org to ask questions and to R.s.v.p. Add your name to the PTSO volunteer list by contacting Paul Zagaeski, PTSO volunteer coordinator, at volunteers@northptso.org.

Most of the PTSO's prevention efforts fall under the title Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choices, which was begun by the PTSO with support from School Council in 2010. Under Just Think, the PTSO directs parents/guardians to articles of interest, publishes lists of local resources, and runs a two-part expo. Newton North teens are invited to attend the expo during their lunch block, and all Newton families of middle schoolers and high schoolers are invited to attend in the evening.

The next Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choices expo will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2018.

In addition, the PTSO sponsors Celebration, an annual post-prom party for all seniors. This gives teens a fun and safe place to go after the prom.

On the home front, the PTSO encourages parents/guardians to talk with one another to set limits and consequences and to supervise teen activities outside of school.
