Students needed for collaborative efforts

NNHS is working to increase collaboration between typical students and special needs students. Here are two current opportunities--one a class for which students may register, and the other a club.

Classroom Aide in Special Education (Course #350). Help peers with learning needs and earn credits at the same time. With guidance from teachers during this elective class, students may help peers with academics, leisure skills, or social skills. Peers work together to gain success and confidence. Number of blocks flexible based on student's availability. See your school counselor or contact Ms. Goldthwaite in Room 315 or by email (Lisa_Goldthwaite@newton.k12.ma.us). To start at the beginning of second semester, please apply soon! See flyer for more information.

Tiger Friends Social Group. This club pairs students who need help with social pragmatics needs with peers so they can work together on social and leisure skills. The club meets Mondays after school in Room 313. Please contact Ms. Goldthwaite in Room 315 or by email (Lisa_Goldthwaite@newton.k12.ma.us) before coming the first time so you can receive a brief orientation.
