Class of 2018 TGIF breakfast lights up International Cafe

Teachers and staff enjoyed a special breakfast on December 8 hosted by 2018 class liaisons Kim Buckton, Michelle Markert, and Clare Norton. Attendees were treated to seasonal table decorations and an array of hot and cold breakfast items supplied by volunteers. The highlight of the event (during clean up) was an accidental stovetop fire speedily squelched by a quick-thinking volunteer.

Thank you to the energetic class liaisons and to all of the faithful volunteers, including Karin Beecher, Joel Bloom, Julie Bourgoin, Carmen Castrillo, Paula Checkoway, Ellen DeVoe, Frieda Dweck, Debbie Everett, Leili Ghezelli, Chris Hahm, Noelle Harrison, Sharon Jacobs, Ellen Jawitz, Barbara Joseph, Bon Koo, Nancy Landry, Joseph LaVita, Jeanette Lee, Kristen Marshall, Karen O’Reilly, Carmen Pancerella, Lauren Paton, Vicki Ritterband, Lori Seuch, Janet Shapiro-Feinberg, Pam Stazesky, Faith Witte, Pam Wright, and Hester Zhang.

Here is a summary of events from Vice Principal Amy Winston: This morning at Newton North there was a small accidental fire in the International Cafe. Fast-thinking parents were able to extinguish the fire and fast-thinking students pulled the fire alarm. Students did an excellent job following directions from adults, exiting the building quickly, and re-entering the building while allowing the Newton Fire Department to complete their inspection. Thank you to all members of the NNHS community for working together to complete a safe and successful evacuation.
