Volunteer needed to run bike rodeo for elementary school students in May

Are you willing to run a bike rodeo for young students using middle and high school students as volunteers? Safe Routes to School (SRTS) and Bike Newton are interested in holding a bike rodeo for elementary-age kids this May. SRTS and Bike Newton will provide support! Please contact Jenn Martin (jamartin77@gmail.com) or Alicia Bowman (nnhssaferoutes@gmail.com) to learn more or to volunteer.

Safe Routes to School, an initiative of MassDOT, promotes a collaborative, community-based approach to providing safer ways for Newton students to get to and from school. SRTS has strong city support and works on issues like snow removal, bike safety, blue zones, and safer intersections. Some schools hold walk/bike-to-school events. Newton SRTS meets once a month on Friday mornings at the Waban Library from 9:30-11:00 a.m. The next meetings are March 9 and April 13. SRTS also has an active online google group. SRTS is looking for representatives from Bigelow, Day, Burr, Horace Mann, and Underwood! Contact Jenn Martin (jamartin77@gmail.com) or Alicia Bowman (nnhssaferoutes@gmail.com) to find out more about how SRTS can help your parent community.
