The LigerBots will host the Newton Championship, a FIRST LEGO League robotics competition for elementary and middle schoolers, at Newton North on Saturday, December 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to come and watch. Admission is free! About 600 Massachusetts students in grades 4-8 will compete using LEGO robots they designed, built, and programmed to perform complex tasks.

Also open to public view will be displays of student solutions to real-world problems related to the outer space-based theme for this year’s game, which is called “Into Orbit.” Alongside the competition there will be a maker fair with hands-on activities for kids in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. This year's event will also feature “RoboPalooza,” an exhibit of some top local FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Tech Challenge robots. There will be opportunities for the public to watch, touch, and drive these robots! Bring your kids and spend the day!
