Newton Free Library offers programs in December and for winter break

Tuesday, December 18: Teen Year-End Trivia

6:30-8:00 p.m., Teen Area

Here's your chance to test your knowledge about 2018!  We'll have questions on the news, pop culture, and entertainment over the past year. Make a team or come stag. Pizza and refreshments provided. There will be prizes! Grades 7-12.

Thursday, December 27: Vacation Book Club

4:00-5:00 p.m., Teen Area

Looking to jumpstart your fun reading this vacation?! Join us to discuss The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee, a fractured retelling of the Chinese folktale, the Monkey King. Sixteen-year-old Genie's focus on getting into a top-tier college is destroyed when an enigmatic transfer student, Quentin, helps her transform into a demon-fighter. Full of laughs, sports references, and awkward moments, this book is so vacation-worthy! Snacks provided. Books can be picked up at the Main Desk in the library. Grades 7-12.

Friday, December 28: Project Runway Cosplay

2:00-3:30 p.m., Teen Area/Makerspace

Interested in cosplay? Want to learn more? Take the challenge and become your favorite character using only cardboard, duck tape, paint, paper and more! Get creative and design and model your cosplays in a final-showdown runway. Also, learn how to look for and send your props to be 3D-printed by the library. Snacks and refreshments provided. Grades 7-12.
