The Center for Civic Engagement (CCES) hosted teen activist David Hogg at a student assembly run twice on February 7, 2019. About 1,400 students heard Mr. Hogg speak about his experiences as a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida; his involvement in March for Our Lives and other rallies; and his advocacy work in the Florida Legislature. Mr. Hogg urged students to get involved in causes they feel are important. Mr. Hogg''s presentation was part of the Dan Fahey Speaker Series, which is administered by CCES and brings speakers on civics, government and community engagement to the Newton North community.
