North Principal Henry Turner honored Sally Brickell, a PTSO co-president, during the June 5, 2019, graduation ceremony, presenting her with the Principal’s Plaque. Given annually, the award highlights “a person or group of people in the Newton community who have made outstanding contributions to the students, faculty, and programs at this school.” Sally, a founder of the Just Think Expo, has served for nine years as an indispensable and indefatigable volunteer and leader of the North PTSO, working closely with the administration, teachers, and other parents/guardians to support and enhance the North community. With the graduation this year of her fourth, and last, child, she is moving on to other endeavors.
It was the second time in a week that Sally, a former Cabot and Bigelow parent volunteer and leader, had been commended publicly for her service. Late last month, Mayor Ruthanne Fuller presented Sally (along with a Newton firefighter) with the Mayor Theodore Mann Community Service Award.
All of us in the PTSO join Principal Turner and Mayor Fuller in extending to Sally our deepest appreciation and thanks for her selfless—and seemingly limitless—devotion to North!
