PTSO announces open leadership positions for upcoming year

Thank you to the over 450 parent volunteers who have contributed their time and talent to the school community over the past year. You are invited to join the PTSO leadership team for 2020-2021. All are welcome and encouraged, whether an experienced volunteer or a newcomer. Parent Volunteer Leadership Opportunities for 2020-2021

Executive Board:

  • Co-President, 2020-2022:  This two-year role includes one year working with the co-president and a second year leading the co-president team.  Prior PTO experience not necessary.
  • Vice President, Fundraising: This one-year role works collaboratively with the fund development chair teams, including Dues/Membership Directory, Northside Dining, Educational Excellence Campaign and Celebration (post-prom event).  This role stands in for the co-presidents when needed.

At-Large Board Members (one-year terms, renewable):

Co-Director, Programs: The PTSO puts on five all-school parent-focused programs each year.  Of these, three are curated by the Programs team.  The PTSO has a catalog of past programs and also welcomes your ideas regarding emerging themes of timely importance to parents.

Co-Director, Communications: Join an existing team of leaders each overseeing communications subspecialties. The open position oversees the website communications (with other leaders responsible for weekly communication and photography/social media). 

Committee Chairs

Celebration Co-Chair 2021: Lead a team that plans the post-prom party for NNHS seniors.  This position benefits from a cadre of annual volunteers who support sub-areas of this special evening.

Northside Dining Co-Chair: Join an existing team of chairs in planning NNHS’s only all-school parent social, with a current tentative date of Oct. 24, 2020.

Class of 2024 Liaison (3 positions): Support grade-specific parent communication, parent socials, and student class-officer fund-development efforts.

Directory Support: Join the existing directory team.  This role focuses on Back-to-School Night and post-Back to School Night parent support.  Are you a friendly person who wants a short commitment?  This is for you!

Just Think Expo Co-Chair: Join an existing team in putting on a one-day/evening event for the middle and high school citywide student and parent community focused on wellness.  

Multicultural Night Co-Chair: Join an existing team to co-lead this special one-night event that welcomes NNHS families to share a large-format meal together.  

Newton Serves at Newton North Co-Chair: Lead Newton Serves volunteers in the one-day annual refresh of NNHS.  Projects determined by the school administration.
