Families Organizing for Racial Justice invites parents/guardians of high school students to get involved; meeting on January 23, 7:30 p.m.

Interested in learning more about Families Organizing for Racial Justice (FORJ)? This group formed in 2017 to educate parents and support Newton Public Schools (NPS) in its efforts to respond to racism. One program ("Courageous Conversations") is being rolled out over five years in Newton Public Schools.

ACT prep class to be offered at Newton South this winter

The ACT is the standardized test of choice in many states, and it is steadily gaining in popularity here in Massachusetts. It is accepted by all colleges and may be a better choice than the SAT for some students. The ACT tests math, science, reading, and writing. Newton Community Education is pleased to partner with Summit Educational Group to offer a comprehensive test prep program that covers all sections of the ACT exam.

Special Education parent Q&A to be held on January 31, 6:00 p.m.

Come to a meet and greet with Special Education administrators Kate McCarthy (chair of the NNHS special ed department) and Katie Stahl (assistant chair) on January 31, 6:00-7:00 p.m., in the Film Lecture Hall. Elizabeth de Rivera (NNHS PTSO liaison to SEPAC*) and Alyssa Cohen (SEPAC chair) will also be there. Ask questions and share tips in a relaxed setting--all are welcome!
