Beijing Bound: Information session and alumni panel discussion on March 14, 6:00 p.m.

Interested parents, teachers, and students, come learn about the Newton-Beijing Jingshan School China Exchange Program on Wednesday, March 14, from 6:00-8:30 p.m., in the Newton South High School Library and Lecture Hall. Samantha Mandel, program manager, will lead an information session; the panel discussion will feature alumni teacher and students reflecting on the impact this four-month immersion program had on them.

Just Think Expo draws teens and families to learn about community resources

The 8th annual Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choices Expo, sponsored by the NNHS PTSO, took place on January 18 in two parts. During lunch blocks, interested Newton North students had conversations with representatives from non-profits about numerous topics including sun safety, dating safety, pedestrian and bike safety, mental health support, e-cigarettes and vaping, and marijuana myths and facts.

Adults invited to see "Escalation," film on relationship abuse, and have guided discussion, on January 30, 6:00 p.m.

Parents/guardians are invited to join members of Newton North’s Minds Matter Club, Newton North staff, and REACH Beyond Domestic Violence for a showing of “Escalation” on January 30, 6:00-7:30 p.m., in the Little Theatre. The Escalation Workshop is a film-based discussion that opens people’s eyes to the warning signs of relationship abuse.

Families Organizing for Racial Justice invites parents/guardians of high school students to get involved; meeting on January 23, 7:30 p.m.

Interested in learning more about Families Organizing for Racial Justice (FORJ)? This group formed in 2017 to educate parents and support Newton Public Schools (NPS) in its efforts to respond to racism. One program ("Courageous Conversations") is being rolled out over five years in Newton Public Schools.
